Concussions are the most common head injury - and they happen not only in sports but as a result of other types of trauma. In sports, concussions have received increased attention for several years, and especially since hockey star Eric Lindros was forced to retire early after several concussions throughout his career.
Unfortunately, some sports or work cultures may not take a concussion seriously enough, or may not treat it appropriately, potentially leading to further or more severe injury. Of course every athlete wants to return to sport as soon as possible. This makes "objective" tests even more important.
The Concussion Clinic at Brent Sutter Sports Medicine Centre features fast intake, specialist assessments, and the highest standards of clinical effectiveness.
- All patients are assessed by a sports medicine physician or orthopedic physician specialist with concussion training.
- Confirmed cases are assessed by a Certified Vestibular Therapist for a "true" vestibular assessment
- All protocols, tests and therapies meet or exceed current standards
- Any referrals are made within 4 days of injury
